Harshaali of 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' very talkative in real life

$

0

Child actor Harshaali Malhotra, who plays a mute girl in Salman Khan's "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", has touched the hearts of viewers with her endearing performance. But she is extremely talkative in real life, says her mother.

"Harshaali never keeps quiet. During workshops, Mukesh (Chhabra, the casting director) used to tell me that he was worried how she could keep quiet," Harshaali's mother Kajal Malhotra said in an interaction with journalists.

"There is no difference in her as a person. The way she was earlier is exactly how she is now," she said, emphasizing how shooting schedules haven't affected Harshaali.

Shooting with a child is not only difficult for the filmmakers but also for the child.

"Whenever there was action or any high-pitched sound, she would get scared. But Salman (Khan) and Kabir (Khan) would take special efforts to ensure that she interacts with other co-stars by playing, after which she became comfortable during the shoot," Malhotra said.

Among the flood of compliments Harshaali's has received, one which deserves mention was when Farah Khan termed her "the find of the century".

The popularity Harshaali has received is there for everyone to see, but her mother says they will try to ensure that she balances studies and acting seamlessly.

"Whatever we'll decide for her career would obviously depend on the offers we receive, but we wouldn't prefer television very much," she said.

Harshaali has also acted in TV serials like "Qubool Hai" and "Laut Aao Trisha" and advertisements.

Salman Khan and Kabir Khan have delivered two blockbustering hits back to back and there is already a third film in the pipleline for them. Yes! Salman Khan has confirmed the news himself.

At an event in Mumbai, Salman told the press, “we are planning another film soon. Definitely. It's been proven. People have applauded Bajrangi for its emotional content and everyone has been sending me great messages about the film. Also, this is one film which even critics have loved. Kabir has a vision which helps in making all his films extra special."

Ask him about the film, he said, "If Bajrangi made you cry, we hope to do the same with our third film as well. That also has an emotional story. We have discussed it."

Kabir had previously told reporters that his first experience with Salman was not so nice; hence they teamed up for BB. When Salman was asked the same he added to the joke, "Maybe even Bajrangi ka experience was not that great, that's why we need to do a third film now."

Now isn’t this a great news for the Khan fans?

'Everytime I saw Salman uncle cry, I cried' - says Bajrangi Bhaijaan star Harshaali Malhotra

Interviewing the six-year-old Harshaali Malhotra is not an easy task. The little girl has shot to fame with her innocent mute performance in Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and is currently basking in the limelight that is coming her way.

While she was ‘bored’ of giving interviews and preferred playing with the journalists, we managed to convince the chirpy kid to answer a few questions for us, of course with some help from her mother Kajal Malhotra, who was sitting beside her. Excerpts from the interview:

Were you this mischievous while shooting for “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”?

No I was not like that.

Were you afraid of Salman Khan?

No.

How was your first meeting with Salman?

I was shy.

Are you energetic in real life as well? Do you take part in sports?

Yes I am energetic.

Do you like studying or playing?

I like playing. But I like doing Maths.

Your mother said you want to become a superstar. So which superstar is your idol?

I want to be a superstar like Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor or Katrina Kaif.

Did you tell Salman that you want to be a superstar like him? What was his reaction?

He said okay… (laughs)

Did your parents and you watch “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”? What did they say about the film?

We all liked the film.

Which films of Salman do you like the most?

I liked him in ‘Kick’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.

You play Pakda Pakdi a lot…so did you play the same with Salman while shooting for ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’?

I used to play games with Salman uncle on phone. I would sit on Kabir uncle’s lap and play Barbie games. Boys don’t like Barbie games and hence Salman uncle didn’t play that. Kareena aunty was busy with shoot so I did not get time to play games with her.

In the film you enjoy cricket. In real life do you like the sport?

No I don’t like cricket. I watch cartoon on TV. I like watching Doremon.

What is your favourite food?

I like chicken. I had a lot of chicken while shooting for the Chicken song. I took about four takes to do the scene.

You like dancing or singing?

I like dancing, singing and acting.

In the film, you play a mute girl. How was it shooting?

I don’t like dialogues. So it was good.

Did you find shooting for any specific scene difficult in the film?

No I used to get scared while watching action scenes.

So when Salman used to do action scenes how did you feel?

I used to cry when he would do action scenes. They used to shoot Salman uncle’s action scenes before mine.

Did Salman take you on bicycle rides during shoot?

No …Salman uncle used to play table tennis with me in Karjat.

Will you work with Salman again?

Yes.

How would you feel when Salman shot for emotional scenes?

Even I used to cry when Salman uncle cried. I would feel bad.

What gifts did you get while shooting for the film?

I got a teddy bear and it is good …I got chocolates as well.

Did Salman treat you with his famous Biryani?

Yes he did give Biryani to all of us. My mother used to feed me food.

Since, you like singing, which is your favourite song in the film?

“Selfie Le Le Re”, “Aaj Ki Party”, “Bhar Do Jholi”, “Tu Chahiye”, “Chicken Song”.

You are seen playing with a lamb in the film. Do you like animals?

Dogs and rabbits. Earlier we had a rabbit as a pet. Now we don’t have any pets.

Did Salman give you the Bajrangi locket?

Yes he did. It was when we were watching the film together.

Who is the better actor between you and Salman?

He is a good actor. (shies away)

How was it shooting with Kabir?

It was nice …he used to play with me.

The little girl couldn’t answer any more and decided to instead click selfies with her favourite journalists.

Meanwhile, we continued our conversation with her mother Kajal Malhotra:

So how did the project happen?

I went to Mukesh Chabra’s office as he had called me for this project. After few months, they said Harshaali has been shortlisted for ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. Till that time I was not aware that Salman was a part of this project.

How was she when she first met Salman?

She was alone when she met Salman and his staff. I was not with her. I was nervous and was thinking what will she talk and how will she react when she meets Salman. When she came back, I asked her how was it meeting Salman she said that she told Salman that she wants to become a superstar like him. I was shocked. Earlier, she was a little shy and when she started talking, she was non-stop at it.

What was your reaction when you got to know that Salman is doing the film?

We couldn’t believe it initially.

In the film she shares a close bond with Salman. What was her equation with him and Kareena?

On the first day of the shoot when she met him she was initially shy. Then, they both were left alone for some time and then she got along well with him. Salman loves her a lot. We are happy that she got this big opportunity of working with Salman.

What about her studies? Did you speak to her teachers in school?

We took permission from her principal who asked us not to take too many holidays for this.

We hear she is naughty in real life. Was she the same on the sets as well? Did you have a tough time handling her?

No never. She was dedicated towards her work. When we were shooting daily she did not get much free time to watch cartoons but she never cribbed about it. She used to play during her break time and would follow a strict routine - take bath, have food, shoot and sleep.

Did you have to explain her the scenes?

No Kabir was there and Harshaali had a good tuning with him. Whenever she had a problem understanding anything about a scene, she would directly ask Kabir about it. I never got into that.

Would you want her to continue acting?

Right now she is dedicated towards acting. Sometime back she was unwell so we had stop doing assignments. During that time she asked me, “Why we are not shooting am I doing a bad job?”. She is too small. By the time she is in standard five, we will take a break of six or seven years till she completes 12th. If she wants to pursue acting then we will do it.

On what basis do you select a project for her?

The project has to be good, her role has to be good and the banner has to be big. We wouldn’t want her part to be too small. After doing a role like this, I don’t think we would like her to do a five-ten minute role where she is seen in childhood scenes. That is not feasible.

Were there any offers in between?

We were getting offers but this project was happening and then her studies were also important.

Will she do television shows and reality shows as well?

A big no to television shows. We will see what kind of reality shows comes her way. It has to suit her. Like if a ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ offer comes up then a small kid like her can’t take so much pressure as they have to practice a lot. She has no formal training in either dancing or singing.

Here’s why Harshaali Malhotra rejected ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo’ and Katrina’s next!

Child artiste Harshaali Malhotra has become the talk of the town ever since the first teaser of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ released two months back. The little girl has won accolades for her endearing performance in the movie and has surely emerged a star.

However, not many are aware that before Harshaali signed ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, she was approached to play Swara Bhaskar’s childhood role for Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo’ which also stars Salman Khan in the lead.

Reveals Harshaali’s mother, “We had shot for the print bit of the role for PRDP. She was supposed to play Swara’s childhood version. But then later we got a call from the makers of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. When things got finalized there, we spoke to Salman about how unfair it would be to have a minuscule appearance in PRDP. He too agreed and that is when we told Sooraj Barjatya. He was humble and understood our point and that is how we backed out.”

Interestingly, not just PRDP, but Harshaali was also offered the childhood role of Katrina Kaif in one of her films. But she rejected that as well on the same grounds.

“When the first teaser of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ was released, Harshaali was approached to play Katrina’s childhood role in a film. I didn’t even know which film was this. But again, I rejected it because I don’t want Harshaali to do a 5-6 minutes cameo appearance. And also, it would have been too much of a stress for Harshaali. She needed a break and hence I rejected it,” confirms Kajal, Harshaali’s mother.

Incidentally, there have been reports that Salman Khan asked Harshaali to reject the Katrina Kaif starrer. Probe her mother about it and she clarifies, “No, Salman Khan hasn’t asked us to do anything. Though it was there in our contract that she shouldn’t do something during the shoot and release because she had a main role. They required bulk dates from us because she had to shoot with Salman and his availability."

Well, we hope the gossip mongers can rest now since the truth is out!

Salman Khan to donate 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' profit to farmers

We have often seen Salman Khan flaunting his chiselled body and taking on the baddies to help the common man on-screen. However, with 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' minting money at the box office, this time the audience will see Salman Khan's generous side in real life too.
If the reports are to be believed, the superstar would be donating the profits earned from 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' to the poor farmers who are in debt.

BJP Leader Shaina NC posted about the same on her twitter account. She posted, "Pls nte we met to invte political leaders to see d film with a social message and to donate fr farmer suicides. http://t.co/a0LLls5XGd ."

Reports also suggest that Rockline Venkatesh, who co-produced the film along with Salman, may also contribute his share for the donations.

The move is being considered to relieve farmers who are in debt and are committing suicide in order to save themselves from the financial crisis. However, there has been no official announcement regarding the same from Salman Khan yet.

8 Reasons why Bajrangi Bhaijaan is unlike any regular Salman Khan film!

$
0
0

It has been a week since Salman’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan has released, and the Salmania is running wild all around. The film is not a typical potboiler and is actually different from a regular Salman Khan film. Not only fans, but even critics are appreciating BB.

While this Kabir Khan directorial is zooming past every box-office record, we list down for you, eight reasons as to why Bajrangi Bhaijaan is different.

1. It is not a remake.

Yes, after a long time, Salman has featured in a film that isn’t a remake of any South Indian film or inspired-from-the-west film. And that is one of the many reasons it sets itself apart.

2. No larger than life action scenes, flying cars, or extensive maar-dhaar.

The film has been backed by mostly by content so even without larger than life action sequences, the film kept gravity-defying action in check. On the contrary there is only one fight sequence, that too with adequate combat.

3. It shows the side of Salman we really missed. *Sacchi*

Remember Salman from Rajshri films or Baghban? After seeing BB, you’d be reminiscent of that Khan. Simple and endearing! His Being Human side is all over the screen and his maneuvers are cute.

4. Easy emotional connect in terms of story.

The film has an instant emotional connect and an heart-touching story. Unlike other commercial masalas dependent on dialoguebaazi or added commercial elements, this film actually is backed up with a good story.

5. Shows Pakistan in a different light.

There have been many films that Bollywood has churned out which have shown Pakistan in a negative light, but with this Kabir Khan film, the perception has changed. The film highlights harmonious relations between the two neighboring nations and gives us hope of a new kind.

6. Show-stealing act by protagonist-Harshaali

Yes! We feel Harshaali is the protagonist of the film. Without her there would be no BB. Without uttering a word, this cute wonder has walked away with applauses. And when she does speak, she just makes you go ‘aww’. Throughout the film, her adorable antics will make you fall in love with her instantly. She speaks through her eyes and gestures, and her act, masks everyone else’s performance.

7. Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s earnest acting

No words can sum up Nawazuddin’s Chand Nawab. He is just too earnest. The second half belongs to Nawaz. He holds the film together and his quirky one-liners will crack you up. Had it not been for this mega-talented man, there would be no Bhaijaan to our Bajrangi.

8. Never seen before Kashmir

30 percent of the film is shot in Kashmir and it shows the paradise like no other film. Locations are a hit amidst the tourists now, thanks to BB, as the film has showcased the breath-taking scenic beauty on the silver screen in a grand manner.

This EID delight for his fans was one of the best? Agreed?

Little star Harshaali Malhotra had confessed in our interview that she burst into tears when she saw Salman Khan doing action sequences. She had further revealed that director Kabir Khan then decided to shoot Salman’s action scenes separately.

And now the makers of the movie have released a behind the scenes video of Munni which is titled ‘Candid Harshaali’. In the video, the makers have shown how they managed to work with the six year old and how she shot for some of the crucial scenes in the movie.

The best part about the video is how Salman and Kabir Khan cheer up Harshaali after she starts crying when she sees Sallu get beaten up on-screen. Sallu is heard telling Harshaali, ‘Arre yeh toh action hai na beta!’ whereas Kabir explains her that ‘Arre yeh sab aise hi chilla rahe hai.
